On the spiritual return journey Home there is nothing to learn. Paradoxically, one must train the self to un-learn the
deeply engrained concepts and beliefs which govern our thoughts and behavior. Love, Bliss, Joy, and Rapture are
only words to describe spiritual experiences, but it is not necessary to have what we consider an education to
understand the meaning of the words which only describe the experience of divine communion.
Spiritual aspirants raised in the western world must redefine the meaning of education to support soul-growth
rather than ego-based-gratification and reinforcement. We are born divine beings and the vessel of our soul contains
all the direction we need to learn the lessons necessary for attaining the goal of our birth: To make the return journey
HOME. Parents adopt the patterns of the dominant culture and with the best of intentions program their children from a
very early age to behave like robots. The behavior of the parents results from their early programming in the form of
education according to the typical society. Children are trained to do the same to themselves, each other, and
eventually their own children. These standards are heavily influenced by British or Spanish colonizing techniques
meant to advance the military or economical interests of the ruling class, thus gaining more control and power over
others. This is remnant of the major switch which occurred thousands of years ago between peaceful, nurturing
goddess oriented Matriarchy, and the competitive, power-over structure of the Patriarchy.
I’ve had the blessing to witness how my Teacher’s daughter is being raised in a tradition where her divinity and
soul expression have been, and continue to be; actively nurtured from the moment he and his wife realized they had
become parents. Within the soul affirming Living Goddess Tradition, parenting begins from the moment a couple
realizes they are going to have a child, not only once the child is born. Ideally preparation for the role of parenting
begins from childhood. The role of parenting is that of caretaker, guardian, and nurturer rather than one who
possesses, controls, and shapes. For souls to have the best chance in this world it’s vital that, beginning with the
parents, it is understood that their only role is to lovingly ensure that the child does not harm themselves or others and
they have every opportunity available for the creative expression of their soul.
Thus, the first step for those of us raised within the western framework is to unlearn the systematic programming
which suppresses the soul. Only from this point onward may we begin to explore our soul-Self and undertake the
challenge and joy of living as a spiritual being having a human existence. Within the reality of the soul, the Universe
lovingly places certain challenges before us, which the evolved soul receives with gratitude and love, trusting in the
love of god. These are the only lessons we need to learn. We do not need books, computers, or classes to feed our
ego and fill our minds with information devoid of meaning. Soul learning is an alchemical process which may only be
directed and undertaken by the student. The only necessary requirement is LOVE, and here is where the paradox lies
for the western student.
Our institutionalized education did not teach us how to love. We were taught to think; Thus in the beginning of our
soul’s quest we think that we need to learn how to love, but Love cannot be taught. Love may not be found in books,
workshops, seminars, intensives or from another person. Love is generated within and until we empty our cup of
“thinking we know everything” or “anything” for that matter, our divine vessel will remain empty of love. Thinking
creates expectations and judgments which are counter-productive to soul growth. Expectations and judgments are a
breeding ground for (mental and emotional) demons which clog, constrict and choke our nadi system, which is the
xylem and phloem of our soul. The ego thinks, the soul feels.
Women play an immensely important role in life. Thus they are worshipped as the power of the Universe embodied
on Earth within the Living Goddess Tradition of Para-Tan. One of the special qualities in women is our complex
emotional network, which is what gives us the capacity to empathize and nurture. The problem with thinking is that it
causes conflict within our emotional web. Our emotions are the very divine qualities of the living goddess in Her Power.
However, when our emotions are conflicted we lose our power and our divinity.
Western conditioning is based upon the misogynist biblical tenet that women are the root of evil and the cause of
all suffering. Several thousand years of collective, cumulative thought and action based on this premise has so
thoroughly and insidiously programmed us that we have become like robots who have taken over the programming.
We now apply and implement its soul suppressing mechanisms to ourselves, our children and to each other. This is
the very programming which we must un-learn to discover the freedom of the soul. For the soul is the true self, not the
ego. We must learn to identify with our true self and leave our ego self behind.
Only when the soul has traveled through many lifetimes will they feel the call to seek and know/realize their true
nature in this lifetime. Only when the passion to know oneself is strong may we apply our free will and focus to this
pursuit. Westerners who have begun this journey see their engrained systematic entanglement for what it is. They
have the passion for knowing themselves as divine, and are willing to undergo the process of de-programming and the
inevitable painful death of their ego. Then there is space made for the awakening and activation of the inner guru.
When the inner guru is alive, the soul receives life’s lessons with gratitude and uses every valuable opportunity for soul-
expression and realization, which is LOVE. With an active relationship with one’s inner guru the alchemical process of
learning is made possible.
It’s taken many lifetimes of soul searching for me to have encountered my inner guru and joyfully dance within the
energy of our love affair. However, my love-affair with life and the blissful dance of my soul was only made possible
because of my encounter with a true teacher, Shri Param Eswaran. The true teacher does not feed information but
provides tools for the student to use on their journey. It’s up to the student to use the tools, which requires an inner
guru. Without my inner guru, Shri Param’s soul-revealing words of wisdom have escaped me many times. It is only
through his loving, consistent, detached willingness to draw attention to my ego-pitfalls and the powerful tools of the
Living Goddess Tradition which have made it possible for me to know my inner guru, who in turn introduced me to the
divine nature of my soul as the Highest form of the Serpent Goddess, Nageshvari.
